Illustration Friday

I am now a member of Illustration Friday, a weekly art challenge. This participative art exhibit online was created by illustrator Penelope Dullaghan. Every week, a new illustration challenge takes place. A topic is posted every Friday and each participant, novice or professional, can give his own interpretation of the subject. Illustration Friday is an excellent opportunity for artists or illustrators, from all media, styles and skill levels, to explore their own creativity and, why not, to find new artistic orientations and... The Letter / La Lettre

Here is my latest drawing, a preliminary sketch for my next watercolour. Its title comes from the mail that the figure is holding. Alfred William Hunt

Alfred William Hunt (1830 - 1896) was the son of a Liverpool landscape painter, Andrew Hunt. He was first associated with the Liverpool School of Painters, but later had a successful London career. His watercolours, which were praised by Ruskin, often combine Pre-Raphaelite precision with Turneresque atmosphere. (In 1856, Ruskin praised one of his works and said of it : "the best landscape I have ever seen in the exhibition for many a day - uniting most subtle finish and watchfulness of nature, with real and rare power of... Looking at Staithes

Staithes derives its name from the word staithe, the literal interpretation of which is "landing place". A resident community was established in the village and became known as the "Staithes Group". Although the community of artists has long since disbanded, Staithes is still as popular and as you explore the area you may often find artists at work. I visited Staithes a few years... The Eye of the Tiger / L'Oeil du Tigre

To illustrate this new label, "Mixed Media", I present you "The Eye of the Tiger". This work was made using mixed media. Because of the different physical and chemical compositions of the various media, great care must be taken so that the final work is structurally stable. Any materials can be used, such as pages from newspapers, photographs, fabric, flowers, ... or a mixed media work can be as simple... [Lire la suite]
